About Alvina
Alvina was introduced to mindfulness and meditation in 1993 in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and has studied and practiced extensively in that tradition as well as training in MBSR/MBCT. At Dzogchen Beara Retreat Centre, from 2001 to 2012, she was the National Coordinator of an education programme bringing mindfulness meditation and compassion based training into health and social care.
Currently she teaches a module of the Masters in Mindfulness Based Interventions at University College Dublin and offers Embodied Listening training for The Centre for Mindfulness Professional Teacher Training Programme. When faculty member of The Institute of Mindfulness Based Approaches (IMA), she taught MBSR Module 3 in their teacher training programme in Dublin, France, Poland and Norway and supervised students of that programme.
Alvina has offered tailor made mindfulness programmes into health, social care, education and business in the Cork region. She also taught mindfulness to cancer patients at Cork ARC Cancer Support House, The Lymph Clinic at Bons Secours Hospital and those living with crisis/illness or coping with grief & loss at Dzogchen Beara.
She is an IACP accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in West Cork where she has an in person and on line private practice.
