About Josephine

Josephine has been taking part in various courses and workshops in Joanna Macy’s work for a number of years and is currently doing a training in The Work that Reconnects.
She finds this answers a need to find ways to navigate the bio, eco and human crisis we face and wishes to share these resources with others. Macy calls this “The Great Turning” and most of us wish to be part of this transformation, moving from an unsustainable model of living to a generative fairer, more inclusive way of life.
Josephine also finds the free book and course in Active Hope, a way to engage fully in topics. Active Hope is different from being hopeful. It is a way of engaging with the world that shapes our choices and actions – to support the future we hope for. And it helps us to overcome feelings of powerlessness or overwhelm which can block us from action.
“We know that by refreshing our sense of belonging in the world, we widen the web of relationships that nourishes us and protects us from burnout. By strengthening our compassion, we give fuel to our courage and determination.”
Josephine obtained her Masters in Mindfulness Based Approaches from Bangor University North Wales in 2012.  She has been working in this area in some sense for many years. Her earlier career was in the area of MindBody health – shiatsu, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine were some of the modalities she used. Her interest was also in Community Health Education and for some years while grants were available, was part of Slainte Pobal who brought subjects such as healthy diet, mediation, relaxation exercises to areas of disadvantage. She also recognized that mindfulness needed a body to support right mindfulness and so spent more than 10 years in the development of the MTAI. She was the first chair from 2018- 2020. She also lectures on the Masters course in UCD in Mindfulness Based Approaches, is a co Founder and Director of the Mindfulness Centre, Dublin 2 as well as running an 18 Month Professional Training in Mindfulness Teaching. She enjoys gardening and loves to share cooking that can help us and the planet as well as possible. Josephine Lynch is a graduate of the UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute and has completed all requirements to become a fully certified teacher of the Mindful Self-Compassion program as outlined by the Center for Mindful Self Compassion April 29, 2021
