About Lisa
Since first discovering mindfulness in 2006, it has continually enriched and transformed my life. Through embracing mindful compassion, not alone has my mental health benefited. I learnt to retrain my whole system; working with my mind and body to live with a highly sensitive nervous system.
Mindful compassion has brought me on a path of self-discovery and growth which, has infused my life, how I am in the world, my relationships and everything I do.
My fascination and love for it led me to complete an MSc in Studies in Mindfulness with The University of Aberdeen in August 2023. As part of this, I undertook a work-based project exploring the perceived experience of compassion and work-related stress and their relationship in a public sector workplace. Finding that there is very real and scientifically-based value to fostering relationships in the workplace to buffer against stress in an era of ever-increasing work demands.
This course has taught me to be able to harness the practical applications of mindful compassion research. Bringing them to life in tangible, practical ways that will benefit workplaces. I can work with workplaces to strengthen their compassionate potential and buffer against work-related stress. The Work-based project as part of the MSc is a testament to this.
I feel so enriched when I get to share the gift of mindful compassion. I am certified to teach The Mindful-Based Living Course since June 2022. I’ve delivered courses in person, on-line and hybrid. I facilitate regular on-line drop in sessions for anyone who has attended the course.
I have co-facilitated the Compassion Focused Therapy course with psychologists in The Health Service Executive in Ireland. I work part-time with Mental Health Ireland with The Recovery Education College facilitating Mental Health Recovery workshops to empower people in recovery whether in services or in the community to navigate their own recovery journey with mindful compassion.
